The Making of a Lunicorn

Lulu came into rescue as an urgent case. She was dropped as a very young puppy, breaking her front legs.

Lulu had many surgeries. Because her bones were so tiny it made it difficult to create a successful plate placement, which is what most dogs would have with her injuries.

Of course, it would take a team as special as Lulu to help her! Lulu received treatment at UC Davis Veterinary Teaching hospital in northern California.

Lulu had what is called a BMP procedure. This procedure literally grows new bone. Lulu’s surgeon was amazing and the medical team were wondrous in how they treated Lulu while in the hospital. We will always be grateful to surgeon Dr. Kapatkin and the medical team!

Lulu is a lesson in courage and resilience. Through everything, Lulu was such a sweet, sassy, and happy puppy that beat the odds every time. Her medical team and those who know her always referred to her as a “little unicorn” and so the LUNICORN was born!

And this is why Lulu wishes to give back! Lulu had many donors and supporters to make her medical journey possible. We wish to help other rescue and shelter animals in medical need so that they, too, can live a happy ever after just like Lulu the Lunicorn!
